Thoughtful Thursdays | Spring | Prelude and Fugue

Today’s Thoughtful Thursday post is another piece of beautiful music: Bach’s ‘Prelude and Fugue’. In classical music, a prelude is usually a short piece of music introducing the main piece and the fugue is a technique using two or more main notes that are repeated again throughout the piece. In a way, Spring acts as the prelude to the main blooming show of Summer-time and Spring’s main notes are introduced at this time of year with the emergence of daffodils, tulips and Spring-time flowers. The effect is not one of abundance like Summer, but one of hopefulness and it introduces us as gardeners to what to expect from the seasons ahead. Enjoy!
